Bus Transfers To and From Chicago Midway Airport

Please remember to collect your luggage and belongings before exiting the Baggage Claim area at Chicago Midway Airport.

Midway International Airport, MDW, in Chicago, IL, USA is serviced by several different bus routes to Chicago as well as destinations further away.

The CTA buses, (Chicago Transit Authority), and the Pace buses depart and arrive at the CTA Midway Transportation Center, the airport train and bus station, located just east of the terminal building. It is fully accessible and connected with the airport via an enclosed walkway with signs in the airport leading to “CTA Trains” or “Trains to City”.

CTA Buses

The CTA has nine routes that serve MDW, as follows:

• Route 47 – 47th – Runs between Cicero/Archer and 47th/Lake Park
• Route 54B – South Cicero – Runs between Ford City Mall and Cermak/Kenton
• Route 55 – Garfield – Runs between the Museum of Science and & Industry and Midway
• Route 55A – South Cicero – Runs between Austin/65th and Midway
• Route 55N – 55th/Austin – Runs between Austin/65th and Midway
• Route 62N – Archer – Runs between State/Washington and Midway via State, Roosevelt, Halsted, Archer and Cicero
• Route 62H – Archer/Harlem – Runs between 63rd/Archer and Midway
• Route 63 – 63rd – Runs between 63rd Street/Stony Island and Midway
• Route 63W – West 63rd – Runs between Archer and Midway

Fare for the CTA buses for an adult single journey:

• Cash on board the bus, exact change in fare box - $2.50
• With Ventra card, can be bought in the Ventra Vending Machines for $5.00 at the Midway Transportation Center – $2.25

The Ventra card/account can be loaded with different values.

Pace Buses

Pace provides 7 bus routes between Midway Airport and Chicago suburbs. Bags ride with no restrictions on Pace buses, as do caged pets.

• Route 379 – Midway/Orland Sq. – Runs between Orland Square Mall and Midway Transportation Center
• Route 382 – Central/Clearing – Runs between 104th/Pulanski and Midway Transportation Center
• Route 383 – S. Cicero – Runs between Oak Forest Hospital and Midway Transportation Center
• Route 384 – Narragansett – Runs between 111th/Natoma and Midway Transportation Center
• Route 385 – 87th/111th/127th – Runs between Rivercrest Shopping Center and Midway Transportation Center
• Route 386 – S. Harlem – Runs between Tinley Park Mental Health Center and Midway Transportation Center
• Route 390 – Midway/UPS – Runs between UPS Hodgkins and 47th/Cicero via Midway Transportation Center

• Cash on board the bus, exact change in fare box - $2.25
• Contactless credit card on board the bus - $2.25
• With Ventra card, can be bought in the Ventra Vending Machines for $5.00 at the Midway Transportation Center – $2.00

Shuttles and Regional buses

There are several types of shuttles servicing the airport and they depart and arrive at different locations around the terminal building.

• Airport Parking Shuttles, transfer travelers between the airport parking areas and the terminal building – Lower Level Inner Lane , through parking garage– Use Door 4
• Regional Buses, buses that frequent surrounding areas including some other states – Lower Level, through parking garage – Use Door 6
• River Valley Metro – Lower Level, through parking garage – Use Door 6
• Hotel Shuttles, services arranged by hotels to transfer guests to and from the hotel and the airport – Ticket Level – Use Door 2
• Off-Site Parking Shuttles – Lower Level, through parking garage – Use Door 5
• Charter Buses – Lower Level, through parking garage – Use Door 5
• Car Rental Shuttles, transfers travelers to and from the rental car facility – Lower Level – Use Door 2
